Transshipment

Transshipment

Argument

For a few weeks now, Pol, a young transgender man, has been visiting a social security psychiatrist's office to get him recognized as a man. Society, and therefore his psychiatrist, requires him to accept that he suffers from a disorder, gender dysphoria... During the performance, the consultation will become a game space where the characters that have been part of the protagonist's life will appear. A rebellious, bright and joyful look at the transgender experience, written by the young novelist and playwright Sebastià Portell. A show in favor: in favor of the joy of living, of second chances, of good memories and those that are yet to be built. With a direct text, he treats the issue of transsexuality as it is, surprisingly taboo in our cultural sphere, and doing it from a clear and uncomplicated perspective: from scratch. What defines if we are men or women? Who decides? Do we have to choose only between these two options? The theater, the space of the mask, of the essay and of the fable that leads to revelation, is undoubtedly the best place in which some of these questions can be raised and answered.
